Shift from Market Exploration to Systemic Globalization

Participants noted that Chinese enterprises' overseas expansion is transitioning from primarily market exploration to a more systematic phase emphasizing local operational capability building, cross-regional organizational coordination, and global resource allocation efficiency.

In his opening address,Financial writer Xiaobo Wu said that in the first half of 2026, China's foreign trade growth momentum has significantly shifted, with high-end manufacturing becoming the primary growth driver. He predicted that over the next 10 to 20 years, Chinese enterprise globalization will fundamentally reshape global manufacturing and trade patterns.

China's Manufacturing Strength on Display

Independent economist Xu Sitao noted that China's manufacturing value added accounts for nearly 30% of the global total, ranking first in the world for 15 consecutive years.

Humanities and economic observer Qin Shuo highlighted three core characteristics of China's manufacturing: the "all-round" capability of complete industry categories, ultra-high cost-performance advantages, and Chinese-style innovation driven by the rise of engineer talent.

Challenges Remain

Despite impressive achievements, challenges persist. Qin Shuo warned that as China's competitiveness strengthens, overseas investment will inevitably face political interference and geopolitical conflicts. Xu Sitao emphasized that going overseas is not a choice but a necessity for Chinese enterprises, and that trade issues have transcended economic boundaries to become deeply intertwined with geopolitics.
